Top 5 Tips for First-Time Ferry Travellers

Book early for the best prices. Fares start at €15 but can exceed €100 in peak season. The sweet spot is 6–8 weeks before departure. Summer weekends sell out fast.
Get a cabin for overnight crossings. Reclining seats are available, but a cabin makes the overnight crossing genuinely restful. An inside cabin costs from €40 extra – well worth it.
Arrive at the port early. With a vehicle, arrive 90 minutes before departure. Foot passengers should allow 60 minutes. Peak season queues can be significant.
Bring your own food for the crossing. On-board restaurants charge €18–25 for a basic meal. Pick up sandwiches from La Boqueria market before boarding – it is just minutes from the port.
Consider the Alcúdia fast ferry for north Mallorca. If your hotel is in Pollensa, Alcúdia, or Can Picafort, the direct fast ferry saves you a 45-minute drive from Palma.
